Askel Aden

Askel (he/they) is a transgender cartoonist based in Copenhagen. He graduated from The Animation Workshop in 2017 with a BA in Graphic Storytelling and has since worked as a background artist on cartoons, in the Danish comic scene, and on various ongoing webcomics. Their debut graphic novel LOVE, MISHA is forthcoming from First Second.

Askel's stories tend to revolve around LGBTQ people, though queerness is not always the focus of their comics; they also draw inspiration from the mystical and natural world. He creates stories that feel alive with rich worldbuilding and atmosphere, and though there can be melancholy to his worlds, his stories are ultimately hopeful.
