Don Brown

Don Brown is the author and illustrator of many picture book biographies and graphic novels for both middle grade and young adult readers. He has been widely praised for his resonant storytelling and delicate watercolor paintings that evoke the excitement, humor, pain, and joy of lives lived with passion. Among his many accolades, his YA nonfiction graphic novel The Unwanted: Stories of the Syrian Refugees was the winner of the YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction Award, and Drowned City: Hurricane Katrina & New Orleans was the recipient of a Sibert Honor. School Library Journal has called him “a current pacesetter who has put the finishing touches on the standards for storyographies.” He is based in the Hudson Valley of New York.
