Emilie Boon

Emilie is the illustrator or author-illustrator of more than twenty books for children. Born in the Netherlands, Emilie spent her childhood daydreaming in California and Mexico, and is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Emilie draws inspiration from the many places she has lived, and loves to illustrate heartfelt stories with brave, quirky characters. Expressing a character’s emotions through color and just a few dots, lines, and squiggles is a challenge she enjoys. Her latest author-illustrator project, Ella & Monkey at Sea, was inspired by her experience sailing to America when she was young. Emilie now lives in the Boston area.
