Sergio Ruzzier

Sergio was born in Italy and is a naturalized American citizen. After spending half of his life in New York City, he returned to Italy, and lives now in a very old house in the Apennine mountains. He was selected for the Sendak Fellowship in 2011, and his early reader graphic novels Fox + Chick and Fish and Wave were awarded 2019 and 2023 Geisel Honors. Sergio likes to draw picture books, comics, and, occasionally, spot art for particularly witty and special chapter books, such as the reissue of the Florence Parry Heide books Tales for the Perfect Child and Fables You Shouldn't Pay Any Attention To.
