Jerel Dye

Jerel Dye has been creating art and comics since 2005. Much of his inspiration stems from a deep interest in science and technology, though it frequently contains a healthy dose of wonder. Jerel loves crafting his richly detailed creations in pen and ink on paper and explores his vibrant colors with a combination of traditional materials and digital techniques. He adores projects that reward his attention to detail and are chock full of character and wit. Jerel’s most recent graphic novel for FirstSecond, Einstein (written by Jim Ottaviani), was selected by Booklist as one of the top 10 graphic novels, 2023. In addition to his book work, Jerel teaches courses in comics, drawing and cartooning to the next generation of aspiring artists. Originally from Indiana, Jerel now lives in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts with his partner and many pets.
